Industry Reviews

Underpinning the success of South Australia's red tape reduction program has been the close partnership with industry.

A series of industry reviews were organised by the Competitiveness Council headed by Deputy Premier John Rau.

Everyone from industry leaders and trade unions to independent operators were consulted.

It was a rigorous process to find better ways for government agencies to regulate and interact with business.

Issues were considered by reference groups, including industry associations and the peak employers' body, Business SA, which made recommendations to government.

Seven industries were involved in the review process:

  • Cafes & Restaurants

  • Motor Vehicle Retailing & Services

  • Building Construction

  • Fishing & Aquaculture

  • Heavy Vehicle Road Transport

  • Wine Grape Growing & Wine Manufacturing

  • Metal Manufacturing
